What The Summit Is

SPEAKER_00

Welcome back to the Beauty Standard. I'm Dr. Roy Kim, Board Certified Plastic Surgeon in San Francisco and Beverly Hills. Now imagine getting the top minds in K-Beauty aesthetics, plastic surgery, facial plastics, and dermatology, as well as aesthetic medicine into one big room in Los Angeles for a single day. That's exactly what's happening on Saturday, July 25th at the K-Beauty Aesthetics Summit. Today I'm going to be walking through every member of our faculty, what they'll be teaching, and why you should come. If you've been curious about K-Beauty and specifically class skin, skin boosters, surgical threads, regenerative aesthetics, as well as stacking protocols, this is the episode that shows you who's leading the conversation. So as a little background, the K Beauty Aesthetic Summit, or KBAS, will be taking place on Saturday, July 25th at the Ethos Society We Work Space. Technically it's not WeWork, but it's a co-working space in Koreatown, Los Angeles. It's an all-day program, about eight hours, with six hours of CME, continuing medical education, about 15 sessions, five panels, and a keynote address. There will also be interesting sessions on the future of K-Beauty and a closing cocktail party. The five panels include Glass Skin and K-Beauty Skin Quality, K Beauty Skin Care, Medical Devices and Threads, Regenerative Aesthetics, and K-Beauty Stacking

Keynote With Dr. Rod Rohrich

Protocols. Now, let's start with the faculty because our keynote speaker is none other than Dr. Rod Rorick. If you're in plastic surgery or aesthetic medicine at all, you know his name. He's a founding partner of the Dallas Plastic Surgery Institute. He's a former chair of plastic surgery at UT Southwestern. He's a previous president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, and he's the former editor-in-chief of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, which is the best, most flagship journal in plastic surgery. He has literally over 1,000 peer-reviewed publications, eight textbooks, and Newsweek has named him the top plastic surgeon in the country for rhinoplasty and facelift five years in a row. He'll be giving the keynote talk at the K-Beauty Aesthetic Summit on how K-Beauty has changed his practice. It's going to be covering Korean aesthetic philosophy, non-surgical techniques, as well as hints on Asian rhinoplasty and specifically non-surgical liquid rhinoplasty. In the afternoon, he's giving a regenerative aesthetics talk on PDGF, platelet-derived growth factor. This is a very hot product in aesthetic medicine because technically, although it has some FDA-approved uses, none are FDA-approved for aesthetic use. What's interesting is that Dr. Rorick will be discussing his preliminary results of clinical research that he's doing for PDGF.

Regenerative Injectables And AI Planning

SPEAKER_00

Next up, one of our distinguished faculties, Dr. Kay Duray Rosh. She's a facial plastic surgeon in Pasadena. She's board certified in autolaryngology and headed neck surgery, and she's voted in the top 100 injectors in the United States five years in a row. She's also a great publisher. She's a really amazing innovator in biostimulatory techniques, as well as hyperdilute calcium hydroxyapatite protocols. She's talking in regenerative aesthetics about PDRN and PN, as well as the salmon-based DNA derived biostimulators at the heart of Korean aesthetics. She's also going to be talking about how AI is transforming facial analysis, treatment planning, and the patient experience. Next up, of course, is co-founder Dr. GA Ju. She's a board certified medical and aesthetic doctor in Toronto. She's the founder and medical director of the Riju Clinic. She's also founded the Boss Injectors, a training community for aesthetic injectors, and she's become one of the most visible bridges between Korean skincare, Korean beauty, and Western clinical practice. She and I will be delivering

The Next Wave Of Korean Innovation

SPEAKER_00

welcome and opening remarks, and she will also be leading off and discussing the K-Beauty Skin Care panel. This is a session on K-Beauty Skin Care as well as the unique ingredients, both over-the-counter, med spol level, and prescription level. This is going to be how Korean skincare differs in terms of the formulation, the chemicals, as well as the thinking versus what we do in the United States. So you probably know me, Dr. Roy Kim. I actually have loved K-Beauty for many years, and I'm proud to be one of the co-founders of the K-Beauty Aesthetic Summit with Dr. Ju. I'll be discussing the future of K-Beauty with a presentation of future K-Beauty innovations. I've been fortunate enough to go to Korea, so some of this is futuristic for America, and some of this is futuristic for K-Beauty. I'll be discussing and previewing the next wave of Korean devices, injectables, and regenerative products which are headed to the U.S. market. I do cover this in my Substack, as well as the K-Bass Insider, the K-Beauty Aesthetic Summit Insider. And it's really the basis of what this entire meeting

Glass Skin Devices Boosters Threads

is all about. Next up is Dr. Lana Shiuk. She is a board-certified urologist in New York City who's become one of the most prominent aesthetic innovators in the market. She built her reputation on her trademark celebrity non-surgical facelift, and she serves as a national trainer for Galderma. At the K-Beaut Aesthetic Summit, she'll be presenting on the Glass Skin Panel and specifically biostimulators, how collagen stimulating injectables fit into K-Beauty. She does return in the afternoon for regenerative aesthetics. She's covering exosomes, including the current evidence, what the sources are, and how they fit into regenerative aesthetics in general. Shea Denmark, who is also known as the Beverly Hill Sculptress, is a PA and licensed aesthetic injector with over 15 years of experience. She's a KOL or key opinion leader for Cyton, and she has a trademark skin sculpture's glass facial built into her practice. She also brings a huge amount of laser and light expertise to our panels. In the glass skin panel, she's presenting on light energy for glass skin, covering optimal broadband light and laser protocols, including selections for Asian skin. In medical devices and threads, she's going deeper into device selection and combination strategies across broadband light, lasers, and radiofrequency microneedling. Sophia Kim is a fantastic nurse injector. She's the founder of Korea Aesthetics in Beverly Hills. She's a national trainer for both African as well as Galderma. And she's fluent in English and Korean. She opens up the glass skin panel with her take on glass skin and specifically with neuromodulators as well as dilute HA. She'll be sharing her protocols for combining microtox techniques along with skin boosters, which are FDA approved or off-label in the United States. She does return in the afternoon to discuss stacking protocols and how she sequences those treatments with boosters and devices. Dr. Marie Jin is one of my friends, and she is a board-certified dermatologist in Silicon Valley. She is one of the world's most foremost authorities on Asian skin. She is also the author of two books on Korean and Asian skincare, and interestingly, she's also the chief medical officer of Musli, one of the world's fastest-growing telemedicine skincare platforms. She'll be discussing custom formulated prescription skincare and how it relates to overall skincare beauty, K-beauty, as well as treatment protocols for melasma. This is a huge problem that affects a lot of Asian patients. She'll be also talking at the Stacking Protocols panel, where she'll be demonstrating and discussing her layered approach to prescription skin care, custom formulated prescription skin care, as well as other in-office procedures and light-based and energy-based devices. Darby Co. is a family nurse practitioner with a doctorate in nursing from Hopkins, and she's the founder of Coaesthetics in New York City. She merges Korean aesthetic technologies with American Method, and she has had a lot of training and education both within the US as well as in Korea. She'll be discussing new skin boosters from Korea in the Glass Skin Panel. She'll be also discussing the latest in injectable boosters that we can expect and where each fits into K-Beauty in general. Finally, she'll be discussing architectural surgical PDO threadlifting rooted in Korean methodology. Rounding out the faculty is Dr. Harry Liu, a board-certified dermatologist from Vancouver, Canada. His clinical focus is on skin of color, pigment disorders, and cheloids. In the K-Beauty skincare panel, he'll be discussing prescription skin care as well as injectable pearls. In the medical devices and threads panel, he'll be tackling keloid management, laser treatment, and energy devices, all within the realm of people of color, Asian skin, and different types of Fitzpatrick

Why This Faculty Lineup Matters

SPEAKER_00

classifications. Why does this faculty lineup matter? It's because K-Beauty is no longer a trend that you read about in a magazine. It's a clinical movement rooted in not just K-beauty, but also in regenerative aesthetics. The ability to discuss various stacking protocols, skin boosters, PNs or polynucleotides, surgical threads, and more into rigorous evidence-based practice for North American patients is the real reason why we're having this summit. So whether you're an injector, a physician, a med spa owner, you should really consider coming to this one room and see how it will change the way you think
