K-Beauty Arrives In US Clinics
SPEAKER_00Welcome to the Beauty Standard with Dr. Roy Kim. Korean aesthetics is not staying in Seoul. Glass skin, skin boosters, regenerative injectables, combination protocols, and more are really built around skin quality instead of just volumizing skin. Now they've crossed the Pacific, really into the world. And now in the US, they're in your patient's mind. They're in search histories, and they're walking into your consultations whether or not your practice is ready to talk about them. The question really isn't whether K Beauty is coming to America. It's already here. The question is who's actually equipped to deliver it. My name is Dr. Roy Kim and thank you for joining me on my podcast, The Beauty Standard. I'm proud
Why We Built The Summit
SPEAKER_00to announce that I am one of the co-founders of the K Beauty Aesthetic Summit. This is a live one-day conference on Saturday, July 25th, this year, 2026, in Koreata in Los Angeles. If you want to learn more about K Beauty, all of the people who know what's going on will be in one room. So this is your preview. And definitely stick around because I've got a code that takes 20% off your registration fee as a thank you for listening. So welcome in. K Beauty Aesthetic Summit is a one-day CME offering event for clinicians, mainly nurses, nurse injectors, NPs, aesthetic doctors, dermatologists, plastic surgeons, facial plastics to come in and learn about K Beauty. It's going to be on Saturday, July 25th at the Ethos Society, which is a common workspace, but we've readdened out the whole place in Koreatown, Los Angeles. So it's one full day, six CME slash CE hours, with more than 15 topics and a faculty of 10, including a keynote that everybody knows, as well as world-famous dermatologists, facial plastic surgeons, aesthetic doctors, nurse injectors, and more. So my co-founder is Dr. G. A. Chu, who is an amazing Korean-Canadian aesthetic doctor in Toronto, Canada. And my name is Dr. Roy Kipward, certified plastic surgeon in San Francisco and Beverly Hills. This year's title sponsor will be Allergan, and I'll be explaining a little more of what they offer. I'm going to be telling you what the day covers, who's teaching it. And what I can't really give you is all of the protocols. I know obviously some of the general protocols, but I don't know the secrets, techniques, and other tweaks that every single faculty member is going to offer. So that's going to be a lot of fun. The only way to get all of that is, of course, please come to our meeting. First,
Buzzwords Versus Real Protocols
SPEAKER_00why K-Beauty? So I think K-Beauty has a slight marketing problem and a clinical opportunity at the same time. So you, as well as your patients, know the buzzwords, including class skin. They've heard of Retron slash salmon sperm. They've heard of PN and PDRN. They've heard of exosomes and skin boosters, but they really don't know what exactly they are. A lot of providers can't explain it and don't offer it. And of course, what are the latest and greatest protocols which work but are still safe? K-Beauty Aesthetic Summit was created just for this. This isn't really a trend panel. It's really a working day of clinical education built to translate Korean techniques as well as regenerative aesthetic techniques into protocols that you can use for your own patients and your own practice. So patient safety, of course, is foremost, but we want to also have skin quality, regeneration, not just volume, as well as beautiful natural results.
Keynote And PDGF Research Preview
SPEAKER_00So let's start at the top because the keynote tells you the level of this event. Dr. Rod Roarick is delivering it. So if you know anything about aesthetic medicine or plastic surgery, you know that Dr. Roarick needs an introduction. He is the former editor-in-chief of PRS Journal, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Journal, really the biggest journal of plastic surgery. He's the past president of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons. He is the founding chair of plastic surgery at UT Southwestern in Dallas, Texas. He's written over 600 peer-reviewed scientific papers. He's the chairperson of the Dallas Rhinocy Dallas Cosmetic Meeting, and he has trained over 15,000 plastic surgeons worldwide. He also runs a cosmetic meeting in Colorado, and really he's like keynote speaker in pretty much every meeting I know about. So for several years running, he has been ranked nationally by Newsweek as the top plastic surgeon in the United States for both rhinoplasty and facelift. The keynote he's delivering is titled How K-Beauty Has Changed His Practice. Another interesting talk that he's giving is about PDGF, platelet-derived growth factor. So his so PDGF has been used off label for aesthetics. He's actually doing clinical research and will be sharing his preliminary details and preliminary conclusions about how he uses PDGF, whether it's safe, the correct dosage, and what actually works. From
Glass Skin With Skin Boosters
SPEAKER_00there, the day opens with glass skin and skin quality. We have an amazing speaker, Sophia Kipp. She's a UCLA trained P Nurse practitioner. She's also an Allegheny KO about neuromodulators as well as America's only skin booster, SkinViv, which is an HA-derived product. So she'll be sharing her thoughts as well as protocols on how to achieve with FDA approved products glass skin. Next up, we have Dr. Lana Chiuk. She's a poor certified surgeon and KOL for Enmode Galderma, and she'll be covering biostimulators. Darby Co., nurse practitioner, she's founder of CoAesthetics in New York. She's going to be talking about the latest skin boosters out of Korea. Shea Denmark, physician assistant or PA, also known as the Beverly Hill Sculptress. She's a Cyton ambassador, a softwave ambassador, and most importantly, she has a ton of experience with Asian skin, East Asian skin, or simply those patients that have some melanin in their skin, and you want to know what's the maximum you can do that's safe that will actually rejuvenate patients with light devices or energy-based devices. So you already know what glass skin is, and what you can't get off of social media or Instagram is the order, the intervals, the dosage, the stacking, and more to make the glass skin reproducible in every patient and do it safely. We'll
Skincare Stacking And Melasma Plans
SPEAKER_00also be talking about K-Beauty Skincare. So co-founder Dr. Ju, she's the medical director of the Riju Clinic in Toronto. She'll be sharing her experience as well as signature ingredients of stuff that is over-the-counter, medspol only available, as well as some prescription products. Dr. Harry Liu, board-certified dermatologist in Canada, he will be talking about prescription skin stacking on top of other modalities. So between injectables at Skin Booster, as well as light devices and EBD, energy-based devices, Dr. Liu will be discussing how and prescription skin care relates to that. Finally, we have Dr. Marie Jin, board-certified dermatologist, author of two books on Korea and Asian skincare, and she's the chief medical officer of Musley. She's going to be talking about custom formulated prescription skin. So melasma is a huge issue within the Asian community. How do you deal with it with not just prescription skin care, but custom formulated prescription skin care, along with other issues that hit not only East Asian patients, but really any patient with certain skin hues? So this is the segment that finally answers the question that splits our field of aesthetic medicine. What do you actually prescribe versus what do you send a patient in terms of over-the-counter versus prescription? After lunch,
Devices Threads And Treating Pigment
SPEAKER_00we're going to have devices and surgical threads. Dr. Harry Lu returns and he'll be talking about energy-based devices as well as protocols on scar formation. Dr. Shea Denmark will be giving a more detailed lecture on how to treat Asian skin, specifically Fitzpatrick classification three and four, as well as pigment issues and energy considerations. Darby Coe will be discussing surgical PDO threads, as well as some interesting work that she's done with architectural threads and allopecia with neuromodulators. So this is a very interesting set of lectures that you can't forget. Next
Regenerative Aesthetics And What’s Next
SPEAKER_00up, we'll be talking about regenerative aesthetics. Dr. Kay Durirach, known as Beauty by Dr. K, she'll be discussing polynucleotides PNs, PDRNs, and what's up next. Dr. Rod Rorick will be discussing his updates on clinical research of PDGF. This will be a great lecture because basically no one else is doing the research and can deliver preliminary results. Dr. Alana Chuk will also be discussing exosomes and how she uses it in her practice. And here's the honest state of this overall category. It's moving very fast. There is stuff that's FDA approved, but only topically. We're going to be looking forward into what we think the FDA will approve in terms of injectables. What's interesting is that Korea has approved a lot of these products for injection, and we know at least some of the preliminary results from Korea, and we'll be anticipating what we'll be getting in the United States. So before
Discount Code Plus Event Details
SPEAKER_00we keep going, here is the special code. If you go to the K Beauty Aesthetics Summit registration page, for 20% off, you need to use the key code word K-Beauty Friends. That's all one word, all lowercase. And that's my thank you for listening to the podcast so far. So next up, we'll be doing some afternoon lectures. Dr. K Dori Raj returns to speak on AI and the future beauty. I will be speaking on the future K-Beauty innovations. Dr. Marie Jin and Sophia Kim will be discussing their stacking protocols. In other words, what's injected normally, what's injected in terms of skin booster, which is a more unfamiliar product and topic in the United States, and how you stack it with light devices, RF micro-needling devices, as well as tightening devices, in other words, thermal energy and/or things that tighten this mask. So this I think will be a great wrap-up and really one of the key features of KBUD Aesthetic Summit. Because in the real world, you're often not doing one thing, you're doing a couple different things to get the best overall regenerated skin for your patients. So stacking and the protocols behind it, this is what separates a good injector from a phenomenal one. And the actual thinking, the theory, the reality, and patient safety, as well as the actual protocols will be discussed during this session. Finally, we'll be having a wrap-up session with all of our speakers and they'll be answering questions, going over what they've learned, going over anything that you want to talk about before our cocktail party. So the cool thing is that all the speakers will be there. We have an amazing group of sponsors and vendors, and we'll be going over that in a separate podcast. We also have a great cocktail party for not just the gram, but it will be a fun time to network. We're going to be having three networking breaks: morning coffee, lunchtime, and afternoon coffee, along with the cocktail party. So you give some real time with your peers, with faculty, and with the vendors. You will get six hours of CME slash CE. Registration does get you into, yes, the exhibitor hall, hospitality throughout the day, digital materials, and more. We are capping this at 100 people maximum on purpose because we don't want to have it too crowded and we want to actually have excellent interaction with our speakers.
Who Should Attend And Travel Tips
SPEAKER_00So who should attend? Really, nurse injectors, nurse practitioners, PAs, aesthetic doctors, dermatologists, facial plastics, oculoplastics, regular plastics, and even med spa owners because you can learn how to do the injections, the thinking behind it, and start coming up with your own protocols. So the K Beauty Aesthetic Summit will be held on Saturday, July 25th at the Ethos Society in Koreatown, Los Angeles. Register at KBeautyAesthetics Summit.com and regular registration is $745, but that special code KBeautyFriends gets you 20% off. If you bring your team, you also get this same discount. The official hotel is the Line LA. We do have a block of rooms reserved at a substantial discount. Right now, the overall regular rate does fluctuate, but it's a discount of approximately 20 to 30%, depending on what regular room rate you see. So it's definitely worth it. The Ethos Society conference place is a whopping one block away from that Line LA. So it's not just walkable, it's very walkable. I also think that you'll love the Line LA Hotel. It's extremely sleek, modern, great rooms. I've stayed there before, very clean, and they have a great rooftop deck. They have a pool. The cocktail party is going to be a lot of fun. They have several good restaurants. They have cool coffee, Alfred's coffee. And so I think it's a great overall hotel, which is very close to the Ethos Society.
