Welcome to the Beauty Standard with Dr Roy Kim. Hello, this is the Beauty Standard podcast with Dr Roy Kim, and this is my actual voice, so once in a while, I'll be doing actual audio podcasts with my real voice, as opposed to the AI-generated conversations that I've been doing, and please let me know which you prefer. This episode, we'll be talking about a skincare trend that I accidentally found, utilizing AI Probiotic skincare. We all know what probiotics are. They're used in the gut. They really help reduce inflammation. We do need some type of bacteria to have an overall healthy gut microbiome.
Speaker 1:Well, skin is no different. We all know, or you should know, that there's lots of bacteria on your skin, inside your mouth, etc. And that's completely normal. To actually get rid of it would actually not be great for your health. What I find interesting is that there is now a trend towards probiotic skincare Today. Let's dive into it. Which is one of the hottest trends that's revolutionizing our beauty routines.
Speaker 1:What's the buzz about Probiotic skincare? I don't think is another fad. I think it's all about harnessing the power of beneficial bacteria to give your skin that extra oomph. Think of it as a superfood smoothie for your face. What do these tiny bacteria, or warriors do for your skin. Number one I think they're like bouncers for your skin because they strengthen your skin's natural barrier. Number two if you have angry, red skin, probiotics can actually chill it out, will help reduce or calm inflammation. Number three they're sort of the peacekeepers of your skin's ecosystem. They can maintain the delicate balance between all the normal bacteria that you have along with all the skincare products that you're using. And number four for pesky skin problems, they may actually help and give you that final push to give you the best results. So specifically, I'm thinking about acne. If you've had any type of adult acne, or if you're a teenager and have bad acne, probiotic skincare may be the final answer. If you're using certain things and it's getting better but it's not going away, wrinkles may also be helped with probiotic skincare. And finally, if you have dry skin, which is really really evident in patients who go through menopause, you can actually re-moisturize your skin a little more naturally with probiotic skincare.
Speaker 1:These are the bacteria that are commonly discussed in probiotic skincare, including and you're gonna love the pronunciations lactobacillus I hope I said that correctly bifidobacteria, streptococcus thermophilus and bacillus. So you're going to find these in now face washes, cleansers, serums and all those wonderful goodies as an add-on to your skincare regimen. I think the bottom line is that probiotic skincare is shaking up things in the beauty world. I don't think it's just about creating a fake product or putting a name onto a bacteria. Rather, I do think that these products are here to stay. It's about nurturing your skin's own ecosystem. But remember, the science is still catching up to the hype. The results are promising. However, keep your eyes out for more research and advancements in this exciting field.
Speaker 1:What do you think about probiotic skincare? Do you think it's all hype? Do you think it's real? Do you think it makes sense? Well, we're going to find out. I think that your skin will be a whole lot happier if you maintain your diet, if you really watch what you're eating. But also, it may actually be tweaked. Specifically, your skin may be actually enhanced with probiotic skincare. So actually enhanced with probiotic skincare, so your glow might be a little better. Anyway, until next time, keep glowing and keep growing with some bacteria. Thanks so much for listening. Thank you for listening to the Beauty Standard with Dr Roy Kim.
